Regaining independence
Struggling with health issues, even simple daily tasks became difficult and accessing the help he needed felt overwhelming.
With support from Each’s Care Finder Coordinator Lisa, 80-year-old John has regained his independence.
"Lisa has been excellent," John shared.
"She tells me, ‘John, I’ll organise that for you, I’ll sort that out.’ It’s been an absolute godsend. There’s so much information out there – where do I go? Who do I turn to? Lisa points me in the right direction every time."
— John
Since joining Each’s Connect (care finder) program, Lisa has helped John navigate My Aged Care, guiding him through the process of applying for a level 2 home care package to support his independence at home.
John lives with peripheral neuropathy, which makes it difficult for him to stand or move for long periods.
In addition, his emphysema drains his energy.
"The last time I made my bed, it took me 45 minutes. Now, thanks to Lisa, a support worker takes care of it. I don’t have to struggle anymore."
John’s biggest fear was falling and being unable to call for help, so Lisa arranged an assessment through My Aged Care for a falls alarm – a device that automatically alerts emergency services if needed.
A program that changes lives
John is living proof of how the right support can restore confidence and peace of mind. He believes every older Australian should have access to programs like care finder, ensuring they get the help they need.
"The care finder program is incredible. Lisa’s support has been life-changing, making a world of difference in my life. I’d recommend it to anyone."
With Each by his side, John no longer feels alone. He’s supported, empowered, and free to focus on what truly matters – his wellbeing.
