Van Nawl Peng, Fung Nei Men and their daughter Daisy moved from Myanmar to Malaysia in 2019.
While trying to settle in Malaysia, in a tragic turn of events, Fung Nei Men fainted and suffered an accident.
Fung Nei Men was bedridden and unable to work. Daisy made the heartbreaking decision to leave school to care for her mother. Van was the sole breadwinner for his family, working tirelessly as a car washer. The work was physically demanding and provided little income.
Hoping for a fresh start, the family applied to move to Australia, dreaming for a better future.
In May 2024, their application was approved but stepping onto Australian soil wasn’t the fresh start they had imagined.
They had no friends, barely any English to navigate this unfamiliar world and felt quite disconnected from the community with little support.
One day, their kind neighbour happened to introduce them to Each.

A new beginning
From the moment they connected with Each, everything changed.
Each stepped in – not just as an organisation but as a lifeline. The clinical and complex care team immediately took charge, helping the family with paperwork and securing a pension card for Fung Nei Men.
They provided access to a dietitian, an occupational therapist and a taxi card for much-needed mobility.
Our help coach worked closely with them, ensuring they had the tools to navigate life in their new home.
Daisy, now with newfound stability, was able to return to school and is now studying at TAFE, rebuilding the dreams once she had set aside.
The Peng family wants to give a heartfelt thank you to Kham, Caitlin, and the incredible nurses at Each who showed them kindness, patience, and unwavering support.

A reminder that no one should struggle alone
The Peng family’s story is a powerful reminder that no one should face life’s challenges alone.
We stand beside those who feel invisible. We wrap around families in crisis, offering not services, but hope, dignity and a chance to thrive.
