He cared for his wife through her dementia, putting her needs first for years. When she moved into a nursing home for respite, his own health began to decline. He had delayed surgery to look after her, and after she passed away, he finally had the operation – only to face more health challenges.
It was during this difficult time that Robert found Each.
“When my wife passed, I was really struggling,” Robert shared.
“My health wasn’t great, and looking after the house on my own became too much. Each was there when I needed help the most.”
Through Each’s connect (Care Finder) service, Robert was matched with a Care Finder coordinator who quickly became someone he could truly rely on.
“They’re amazing. They’ve been such a great help. I don’t know what I would’ve done without them."
Robert's Care Finder Coordinator helped to navigate the My Aged Care system and arrange practical support, like domestic assistance, so he could manage daily life. But what made the biggest difference wasn’t just the services – it was the care.
“They didn’t just set things up and leave. They checked in on me during some tough times. Each isn’t just about linking people with services – it’s about looking after the whole person. When they say they’ll do something, they do it. And they really care.”
Now, a year later, Robert reflects on the support he’s received with deep gratitude.
“I feel incredibly blessed that Each came into my life. I don’t know where I’d be without them.”
With the ongoing support of his Care Finder Coordinator and the Each team, Robert is finding strength in his journey. He knows he’s not alone – and that makes all the difference.
