Your Role, Your Impact

headspace Casey Cardinia is looking for a Social Worker to join our Enhancing Mental Health in Secondary Schools (EMHSS) program. In this role, you will provide evidence-based interventions, including assessment, counselling, and group work, to young people enrolled in local government secondary schools facing mild to moderate mental health challenges. You will also offer care coordination, liaise with care teams, and provide support across headspace Narre Warren, headspace Pakenham, schools, and in the community, including telehealth.

You will assess client suitability for services, facilitate referrals, and engage families in treatment planning while working in a multi-disciplinary team. You’ll also maintain strong relationships with school staff and other stakeholders, while adhering to clinical governance and funding guidelines.

Qualifications

Who We’re Looking For

  • Highly developed conceptual, organisational, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in technological applications (e.g., Episoft, Microsoft Office)
  • Experience working with adolescents and young adults with mental health challenges (e.g., anxiety, depression)
  • Well-developed counselling, mediation, and assessment skills
  • Experience working with families to support young people
  • Knowledge and experience with diverse communities, including Indigenous backgrounds
  • Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities and group work (e.g., self-esteem, anxiety management)
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of the not-for-profit sector (desirable)

Qualifications/Registrations/Licences:

  • Minimum Tertiary Qualification in Social Work
  • Registered with AASW
  • Current state-based driver’s license
